The story behind Lake of Desires

There is a quiet narrative that runs beneath the Lake of Desires collection — not something to be illustrated, but something to be felt.

It begins like a tale.

Once upon a time, Joyelle, Princess of the Kingdom of Happiness, was walking through the Woods of Life. There, she encountered Fear — a dark presence that held her still, binding her in laces of Terror and Despair. Unable to move, she remained trapped in that state, suspended between stillness and loss.

It was the Wise Fairy, moving silently through the same woods, who heard her. Approaching her, she spoke of something simple and essential: not a weapon, but a force — Desire.

Beyond the trees, she said, there was a lake. A quiet, reflective place where lost desires are held. Not gone, but waiting.

In turning towards it, Joyelle did not find escape, but recognition. In that reflection, something returned — a sense of direction, of movement, of self. And with it, the strength to release what had held her in place.

The story is not about fear, nor about its defeat, but about the moment in which something shifts. When stillness begins to move again.

Lake of Desires emerges from this space — where form is not fixed, but unfolding. Where surface holds light in tension, and each piece carries a sense of quiet transformation.

Not a story to wear, but a condition to inhabit.
