The “Design conversation” between Designer and Wearer

I’ve always been in love with Design:

in my perception it represents not just a project, but also the personality, the background, the culture and the style of the person who made the object.

When a person buys an object because of its design, it’s like he/she’s starting a conversation with the designer and, depending on the way he/she uses it, the design of the object continues.

This is the reason why we should be more aware of the power of the jewellery we choose.

What we wear every day is like a statement not just about our mood, but also about what we are going to do and the message we want (or not) to transmit to others.

First of all (as a form of respect to ourselves) we should choose what we feel more “tuned” with.

Objects give emotions and sometimes they help us to be more positive may be because of the colour or the shape: sometimes we prefer to wear something black for its mysterious and elegant look, or maybe something yellow because of the positive energy that it transmits. Fluid forms make us feel more comfortable, geometric shapes more aggressive and powerful. Diamonds and other precious stones are a status symbol, design oriented jewellery means love for art and research…

All senses are involved when we look at an object and not just the shape and the colour, but also the weight, the texture and the smell are involved in our choice (not to mention the price, of course!)

Talking of metals the colour and the malleability of different metals, but also the specific gravity of each one are very important.

If a pair of earrings is in gold or silver the light weight is most appreciated, but if a cuff made with the same metals is light it looks immediately cheap and not worthy, but if it is too heavy it is perceived as tacky…(so complicated!).

These are some of the reasons that make jewellery so fascinating and meaningful to me and why I value and appreciate every single moment of the conversation with my Clients, both when they are buying something that I already made and when they are looking for something more personally tailored.

The Conversation about Design is a never ending one: the Object continues its own life through time and generations, bringing memories, emotions and dreams that shape our perception of the surrounding world  and feeding our souls.
